Technology-Enhanced Assessment Ontario Kindergarten · 2026 curriculum
For kindergarten educators

Built for the five seconds you actually have.

TEA turns in-the-moment classroom observations into curriculum-linked evidence. By report time, the writing is the easy part.

Every name on this page is invented. TEA never shows real children anywhere but inside a signed-in classroom.

How it worksThe whole loop

Documentation that keeps up with a kindergarten room.

01 · Capture

Five seconds, mid-morning

A note or a photo on the classroom iPad, the moment it happens. No form, no ceremony. Tagging can wait for prep time.

02 · Classify

Filed to the framework

Each observation lands in a triage inbox and takes its place against the Ontario 2026 curriculum, one tap per expectation.

03 · See it add up

Coverage you can act on

A living matrix shows every child against every expectation, so the quiet gaps surface in October instead of at report time.

The spine4 frames · 102 specific expectations

The Ontario 2026 framework is built in, not bolted on.

Every observation, assessment and report in TEA speaks the language of the four frames. Coverage is measured against all 102 specific expectations, so "are we seeing the whole child?" has a real answer.

Report seasonEvidence first

Report cards written from what really happened.

When it is time to write, the evidence is already sorted by child and expectation. Quotes come from October, not from memory in January. Principal sign-off is built into the flow.

Kindergarten Communication of LearningTerm 1

Sample F. is growing steadily as a reader and writer. In October she sounded out "boat" independently at the writing table, and her problem solving shows real persistence: she rebuilt a ramp twice until her design worked…

PrivacyNon-negotiables

Made in Canada. Stays in Canada.

Where it lives Toronto, Canada. The database, every photo, and every backup. Nothing is copied to a service outside the country, for any reason.
Who can see it The classroom's educators, and each child's own family. There are no public links; every photo is served one signed-in request at a time.
What we never do No ads, no facial recognition, no selling data. Emails to families carry no child's name and no content: the record stays inside TEA.

Every open, share and deletion is written to an append-only log that nobody, including us, can edit. Ask us for the full privacy documentation; boards and research ethics reviewers already have.

The researchWhy TEA exists

Born in a study, raised in classrooms.

TEA began as doctoral research into a stubborn problem: kindergarten educators are asked to document rich, play-based learning for twenty-six children at once, with tools built for older grades or for no classroom at all.

The product is the study. Every design decision, from five-second capture to evidence-first report writing, is being tested with real educators in Ontario classrooms this year.

If you teach kindergarten in Ontario and want to shape what this becomes, we would love to hear from you.

Pilot · 2026–27
